Nach geltenden gesetzlichen Regelungen für Altautos – ELV (End of Life Vehicle) – müssen sich Autos beinahe vollständig recyceln lassen. Dazu muss genau dokumentiert werden, aus welchen Materialien sich das einzelne Auto zusammensetzt. Die präzise Dokumentation der Recycling-Quote aus bis zu 10.000 verwendeten Komponenten pro Modell, stellt die Automobilhersteller und –Zulieferer vor eine große Aufgabe.
Die von den Automobilherstellern aufgebaute Materialdatenbank wird künftig die Wiederverwertung von Altautos erleichtern. Das internetbasierte System IMDS bietet die Möglichkeit, alle für das Recycling relevanten Daten eines Fahrzeugteils in Form von Materialdatenblättern in einer Datenbank zu sammeln. Das IMDS vereinfacht die Informationssammlung und –weitergabe aller relevanten Materialdaten über die gesamte Lieferkette hinweg. Es ermöglicht die Materialdaten einfach zu erfassen, transparent darzustellen und schnell weiterzugeben.
